Wednesday Whine

So…. It’s Wednesday.

I’d tell you my five mile time, but I didn’t go running last night. Or the night before. Went to bed at six pm, and stayed there. I wake up feeling better except for a bit stuffy, but by about three pm, my bones feel like they are about to shatter, and my head is about to pop. I know, whine, whine, whine. It’s contagious; I caught it, along with this cold, from the midgets.

But seriously, not going running this week. It’s hard enough to breathe with sandpaper in my throat at this point. I have no idea how much ground I’m going to lose with this thing–is running like riding a bike? Do you pick it up again after a break? Or will I have to start from square one?

    That terrible head cold is going around like the plague! It’s just horrible…

    I wouldn’t run if your not feeling well – just pick up after your better. Don’t push it, you will just injure yourself.

    Run – or walk – just don’t go as far or as fast … or as often!
    It can be VERY hard to start again.

    Get better, but do not give up running! You will regret it and I am so impressed you followed through and are a runner now. That is so cool.

    You may take a week or so to get back into the swing of it, but if it makes you feel any better, even pro marathoners have days / weeks like this. It’s infuriating but completely normal and quite frankly, the hardest part of running. Having to make up for lost time.

    Do something each day. Walk across the kitchen. Walk around the house when you’re up to it. It’s about doing something each day (after you’re not horribly sick, of course), to keep up the momentum and to be proud of.

      That’s funny–I’m actually been comforting myself with the fact that I’m on my feet for 12 to 14 hours a day, minimum, before I ever set foot outdoors to run! That has to count for something.
