This weekend my daughter went to her first dance.
It was formal, but her group of friends decided to go gag-formal and so Saturday morning found us scouring the local thrift shops for the most hideous formal dresses we could find.
The result (of the two who stopped by my house; there were a dozen or so):
Although, you have to admit that they can pretty much make anything look beautiful at this age! On the hanger, I thought the dresses were horrible, but every time they tried one on, it looked almost perfect–in a bizarre, dated sort of way.

I totally agree! (she looks beautiful)

They both look lovely. That is the amazing part. At first, I thought you were going to say it was an old picture of you as a bridesmaid. But they do look great and think of the money you saved!

Gosh, the two girls favor. I would have a difficult time guessing which one is yours Kimber. The one in the green maybe? You are right though, even in dated dresses they are both still very pretty!

Yep, the one in the green!

It is amazing, isn't it? And yes–think of the money not just I saved, but all those families! The whole prom-type dance thing can get insanely expensive! A bridesmaid–ha! I've never been one; I went to college early and married early–all my friends were still in high school!

Lucky you. Being a bridesmaid sounds like an honor but it is expensive and nerve wracking and there are expectations. Hard job!!

Ha! I hope the other guy has a shotgun! She's 5'11 (wait, don't quote me on that, it was 10 or 11, can't remember), and can handle herself pretty well. Although, she's almost sixteen, and this is the first dance she's been talked into attending. Thank goodness I didn't get a boy crazy teen! She's bent on getting her doctorate before she's twenty one or something crazy like that. Which, she might–she's pretty determined.

very good looking and a doctorate and able to handle herself in a scrap,a triple threat,so is this the one who is going into politics, theres enough liberals running around in congress…..she's needed.

Ha! Could be–she's wryly conservative, even at her young age. I love to hear it when the youth can see through the garbage the powers that be shovel down their throats! I don't know what she'll go into, but I'm sure to be rooting for her, all the way, whatever it is. She's starting college in the fall through the Running Start program. Choke.
